The student ministry here is for grades 6–12. All students within those grades are welcome to join us at any time!

Our youth group meets most Sundays throughout the school year from 2–3:30 pm in the Basement. We play games, talk about Jesus and how much we are loved. We use the Orange curriculum and like to walk alongside our students’ parents to help enrich the faith journeys of the young people in our church. Outside of youth group, our Student Ministry offers two retreats per year, local mission opportunities and a weeklong mission trip in the summer.

Each fall, we attend a retreat for middle school students in November and a retreat for high school students in December. Both of these retreats are held at Eagle Eyrie Retreat Center in Lynchburg. The cost ranges from $125–$145 per student. In February, both middle & high school students go back to Eagle Eyrie together for the Richmond District retreat. The cost for the District retreat is $135. Each retreat features a dynamic speaker who specializes in student ministry, a worship band, workshops and a mission component.

In the Summer, we attend a weeklong mission trip focusing on ministry with the homeless, light home repairs and cleaning. In the past, we have gone to Nashville, TN, Washington D.C., and Boston, MA. These trips range in cost from$250-$700. We work throughout the year to fundraise support to help alleviate the cost.

We have several worship opportunities for our students. Our student worship team leads the church in a song once a quarter. We also plan and lead the church in worship, scripture, and teaching every year on St. Mark’s Student Sunday. Opportunities to greet, usher, read scripture, lead in worship, preach, sing, and play instruments are available for our students, as well.

Our girl’s small group (G.I.F.T.) meets on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 pm. Contact Laura Godwin ( or Sandy Wingen ( for more information!

Our young men’s small group (R.O.O.T.S.) meets on Wednesdays from 6-7 pm. Contact Rick Wingen ( for more information!
