As followers of Christ, St. Mark's UMC has committed to participate in these programs. We help financially and physically by providing resources to our community's programs.
Each mentor is typically matched with 2 students and participates in 30-minute, back-to-back mentoring sessions weekly during the school year.
St. Mark's collects gently used shoes for Souls 4 Soles. This organization collects shoes to turn them into educational and economic opportunities.
Rise Against Hunger
Rise Against Hunger is a yearly meal packaging event that distributes food to areas with the greatest concentration of hunger
Food Banks
We support two local food pantries, one at Sherbourne UMC and one at Holy Comforter. Collection bins are placed outside the CLC doors every Sunday afternoon from 12-4 pm, and food is delivered each week. All canned/packaged, unopened, non-perishable food is welcome.
FeedMore Volunteers
FeedMore (which operates food pantries, Meals on Wheels and other programs to provide local help with food) is always looking for volunteers. They need help in a number of areas…drivers, packing assistants, administrative help, etc. If you are interested and would like more information, go to https://feedmore.org/volunteer/opportunities.
On the first Wednesday of each month (Sep-May), we have a mission dinner in the gym from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. The cost is $10 per adult and $5 per child, and proceeds are collected for different mission causes + organizations (e.g. Evergreen food pantry, Gordon Athletics, FACES, Mission trips, etc) The hosting groups plan a different menu each month as well. RSVP here for the next one!
